me, me, me

cropped+adjusted. from a photo ige took of me. new avatar/display image, most probably.

i'm sleepy. i've done most of what i can do at work today. it's thursday. it's a bit rainy. i'm wearing my orange little green men watch. i love my newest old camera. i'm still pining for an lc-a+. when it rains cameras i hope to catch a horizon perfekt and then i'll give it to ige. then i'll borrow it occasionally. haha. i am now an expert in paperflyfolding. i am honored to be asked to take (film) photos of an old friend's wedding. tomorrow's a holiday, yay! i just had a really good idea for the manila day exhibit in sigwada, i hope the others agree. i need to have my eyes checked again. there is really no point to this post.

i've been (half) framed!

Old Rose (left) and Li'l Blush (right)

Okay. So I got myself some new old cameras that take half-frame shots, which means you get two pics in one "regular" frame. I got Old Rose the Olympus Pen EE around two weeks ago and Li'l Blush the Olympus Pen EE-2 arrived this morning from a fellow Lomomanila member who's based in Iloilo. Appearance-wise the two are basically the same, except that Li'l Blush has a hotshoe and a film counter that counts 'up' (I rather like Old Rose's film counter better--it's so cool! It counts 'down'--you set the number of shots--if you have a 36-shot film you just multiply it by two, so you set the counter at 72, and everytime you take a shot and advance the film the counter takes a spin to point to the lesser number. Like an analog clock. Cute).

Li'l Blush also has a couple of 'upgrades' in her shutter speed and film speed settings (eherm, I won't go into that lest I turn all geeky here, haha). What I love about both cameras is the 28mm Zuiko lens (yeah, wide angle baby!--great depth of field, super point and shoot). However, the elder one, Old Rose, though she still works, is nearing retirement. Yep. Since having Li'l Blush in the family, I'll be using her more often, and she is more uh, 'healthy' than her sis. Old Rose I might sell, or trade, or just keep with me. Being the aged half-frame Sixties rockstar that she is, she's in need of repairs (for one thing the selenium cell/light meter doesn't work anymore, I think, and she has the sticky shutter). Oh well. Enough of my photographic blabbering. A good blogger would post sample shots, but since Old Rose's first roll was a tad too overexposed and I just got Li'l Blush, y'all have to wait. It's gonna be a while until I finish a roll. :)

yet another thursday

Give it to Obama

Last night, the thursday kids went to see a TUTOK show over at Tala Gallery. Hi, hello, uy!, smile, heheheh. After all that they crossed the street, walked a bit, and finally headed up to Icings, a quaint little cake shop that also served meals. The kids had grilled vegetable (insert something Italian here) vinaigrette salad and fish and chips. Servings for two. Masarap!

summer.

Kuya Randy aka Kabsat with the Perey children, Brgy. Kalawakan, DRT, Bulacan, Summer 2007

I haven't posted anything "lengthy" lately. Nothing to say? Not in a storytelling mood? I dunno. Let's just go on with some updates.

It's my second week at (official, on-payroll, i-have-an-item) on-probationary status work, at the same office. Yes, apparently the past three years of my already being here has no weight whatsoever, and I am still required to go through this process. Blame the labor code loopholes. Or the sheer brilliance of our HR Department. Or the admin. Or me, for not doing anything to get my own sorry ass out of here (yes, I do need to sit down and do that thesis). I am not enjoying kowtowing to the structure of 8-5 work, but hey, it's something, right? Right.

If you see my desk calendar for the month of May, you'll see long lines spanning two to four days in each week. Yep, summer vacation means summer activities. Thankfully, the weekends are all clear, except for the last week, when we'll be in Vietnam. Which cameras to bring? Oh, decisions, decisions!

Speaking of cameras, I speed-finished a roll of film on Old Rose the Olympus Pen EE camera yesterday and had it developed and printed at Photoline. After much geeking about, I concluded that the shots were overexposed because I used the 'wrong' film. I still might have to take her to Mang Dong in Hidalgo for a check-up and repairs (sticky shutter, dead metering, cleaning, etc.). But before that, I'll be feeding her some slide film I'd been saving. I figure that would somehow make things a bit better. :) I'll be posting photos when I'm uh, 'satisfied'.

Notebook fetish. I got another one yesterday.

A couple of nights ago I fell into a cesspit of I-don't-know-what. I felt rotten, stressed-out, icky. Maybe it was hormonal PMS, maybe I was simply utterly deflated by the heat, the stuff at work, the ride home, and the dread that came with the possibility of not being able to see someone I missed. I'm okay now. Thanks s.b.

This has got to be the sweatiest summer ever. Sheesh. The heat drains the body of energy. Hydrate, hydrate!

The hotter it is, the more I look forward to rain.
